East Africa Portland Cement Co   (EAPCC) is planning a KES30.53bn (US$200m) clinker line in Kajiado county, Kenya. The plant, which will have a clinker capacity of approximately 5000tpa, will be located on a 300-acre greenfield site. Bamburi Cement is building two solar photovoltaic power plants, which will provide up to 30 per cent of the cement producer’s total power requirement. Kenya-based Karsan Ramji and Sons , which produces Ndovu Cement, has signed a 20-year deal with the country’s state-owned geothermal developer Geothermal Development Company (GDC). Under the agreement, GDC will provide Karsan Ramji with 40tph of steam from which the cement producer will generate power using a 4MW wellhead generation unit.
