West Pokot clinker plant finally launched

The much delayed KES45bn (US$346.6m) Devki Group West Pokot clinker plant was finally launched on Monday by Kenya's President William Ruth. East Africa Portland Cement Co   (EAPCC) is planning a KES30.53bn (US$200m) clinker line in Kajiado county, Kenya. The plant, which will have a clinker capacity of approximately 5000tpa, will be located on a 300-acre greenfield site. Bamburi Cement builds two solar power plants

Bamburi Cement is building two solar photovoltaic power plants, which will provide up to 30 per cent of the cement producer’s total power requirement. Kenya-based Karsan Ramji and Sons , which produces Ndovu Cement, has signed a 20-year deal with the country’s state-owned geothermal developer Geothermal Development Company (GDC). Under the agreement, GDC will provide Karsan Ramji with 40tph of steam from which the cement producer will generate power using a 4MW wellhead generation unit.
