East African Portland Cement Company  (EAPCC), part of Holcim, has restarted its 1.4Mta  Athi River cement plant after replacement of a faulty kiln shell. According to the company,16m of damaged kiln shell has been replaced with a new section, at a cost of KES500m (US$4.12m). Kenyan cement consumption grows by 18% in 1H22

Kenyan cement consumption grew 18 per cent in the half year ended June, driven by increased construction activities in the private sector that defied a surge in cement prices, according to Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS). East African Portland Cement (EAPCC) has started a process of selling land parcels to squatters who have been living on its Athi River property. The cement maker has made an offer to the squatters to pay KES100,000 (US$832.6) for a beacon certificate and another KES500,000 within a year to purchase a plot of land measuring 40ft by 80ft (12 x 24m). Bamburi Cement posts 88% drop in 1H profits

Kenya-based Bamburi Cement Ltd reported a profit of KES95m (US$0.79m) for the January-June 2022 period, 87.7 per cent down from KES776m in the 1H21. However, the group posted a revenue of KES20.1bn, up 2.6 per cent YoY from KES19.6bn in the 1H21. Kenya's Devki Group ( National Cement ) plans to develop a wind power plant in Kenya to try and mitigate electricity costs . Redecam commissions Bamburi Cement baghouse

Redecam has commissioned a new bag filter at Bamburi Cement  ( Holcim Group ), Mombasa , Kenya. The project required a turnkey solution to convert the main kiln and electrostatic precipitator for a new baghouse. The project had been scheduled for 2020 but had been delayed because of COVID-19. There were no loss-in-time accidents.
