Bamburi Cement Group reported a pre-tax profit of KES2.2bn (US$19m) in 2021, representing a 22.3 per cent YoY increase from KES1.8bn in 2020. Kenya considers duty increase on imported clinker

Bamburi Cement to raise prices as costs escalate

Kenya-based Bamburi Cement ( Holcim ) plans to increase prices of its products by 2-10 per cent as of 10 March 2022. The company attributed the price rise to higher raw material costs. To sustain its operations, Bamburi will be raising prices of products marketed under its Nguvu, Tembo and Fundi brands, particularly from the company’s Nairobi, Mombasa, Limuru and Sagana depots. The price of a 50kg bag of Bamburi Cement retails between KES600 (US$5.25) and KES770.

East African Portland Cement narrows half-year loss

Kenya-based East African Portland Cement Co , owned by Holcim , has narrowed its half-year loss to KES907.1m (US$8m) in the six months to December 2021 from KES1.035bn in the equivalent period of the previous year. Gebr Pfeiffer has successfully commissioned third line for cement grinding for Mombasa Cement Ltd, Vpingo , Kenya. The project for Tororo Cement subsidary Mombasa Cement included the installation of a Gebr Pfeiffer vertical roller mill  MVR3750C-4. The original order was placed in July 2019 .

Savannah Cement seeks KES40bn to fund new clinker plant

Savannah Cement , Kenya, wants to raise KES39.7bn (US$350m) via a bond on the London Stock Exchange to build a clinker production plant. Savannah Cement has overcome its clinker shortage difficulties
