Cement sales in Brazil increased by 2.4 per cent to 5.372Mt in June 2024 from 5.248Mt in June 2023, according to the country's cement association, SNIC. Cement dispatches in Colombia declined 10.9 per cent to 1.003Mt in May 2024 from 1.126Mt in May 2023, according to statistics agency DANE. Cement demand in Argentina fell 32.8 per cent YoY and seven per cent MoM to 725,661t in June 2024, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. This includes 81t of imports. Peru-based Unacem Group has published its Corporate Roadmap to 2030, setting a carbon emissions target of 1500kg of CO 2 /t of cement by 2030 in all its operations, representing a reduction from 607kg, and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Domestic cement dispatches in Peru slipped two per cent YoY in May 2024 to 0.958Mt from 0.977Mt in May 2023, according to the country's cement association, ASOCEM. Argentina's cement market contracted by 27.2 per cent YoY to 780,541t in May 2024 from 1,071,951t, but compared with April 2024, dispatches were up 19 per cent, reports the country's cement association, AFCP.
