CMS Cement raises price by 5% for dealers in Sarawak, Malaysia

Sarawak’s sole cement manufacturer CMS Cement Sdn Bhd has raised the price of Portland cement to cement dealers across Sarawak by RM15/t (US$5) or five per cent. CMS Cement is a a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd. The price increase was “unavoidable” in view of the continuously increasing costs of raw materials and bunker fuel, CMS said in a statement yesterday. According to the company, the price hike was its first in three years.

Vietnam ministry to raise export duty

Kinshasa prices fall, DR Congo

The price of a bag of 50kg cement in Kinshasha, the capital city of the DR of Congo, has experienced a significant decline for nearly a month. A bag of 50kg of grey cement, which sold for CDF18,000 in May 2011, sells for between CDF11,000 and 12,000, a decrease of CDF7000. This significant decrease is due to the authorisation by the government through the Ministry of National Economy, of grey cement imports from China, Egypt, Nigeria which are the main suppliers of this strategic product.

UAE: price of building materials rise

A lack of supply and increasing demand is pushing up prices of building materials in the UAE, according to the latest statistics released by Abu Dhabi government. Holcim raises Luzon prices 6%, Philippines

Holcim Philippines, Inc has raised by six per cent, or roughly PHP10/40kg bag in the Luzon area. The firm cited in a statement Wednesday costlier coal, used as fuel of its factories, as the reason for the increase.
