Mixed bag for Turkish cement producers in 2016

Several cement producers in Turkey have released their results for 2016, showing a mixed performance in the year. Unye Cimento saw its net profit rise from TRY48.3m (US$13m) in FY15 to TRY58.3m in FY16. The company reported a rise in revenue from TRY222.3m to TRY250.7m over the same period. Medcem Cameroon, owned by the Turkey-based Eren Holdings, will officially open its Douala plant on Friday, 16 December. With a production capacity of 0.6Mta, the cement plant represents an investment of XAF13bn (US$21m). The first cement was produced in October 2015. Çimsa Cimento has now ordered about 60 Aumund machines for the plants in Eskisehir and Niğde. Turkish cement manufacturers Mardin Cimento, Adana Cimento, Unye Cimento, Bolu Cimento and Aslan Cimento have reported their third-quarter results for the July-September 2016 period. Georgian Cement Company (GCC) opened its new cement plant on the 4 October 2016 in Poti, with an initial annual capacity of 0.25Mta. Vicat's first half turnover eased by 0.4 per cent to EUR1237m, which amounts to a 4.3 per cent increase on a comparative basis. The EBITDA improved by 2.3 per cent to EUR208m and the margin improved from 16.3 per cent to 16.8 per cent. Turkey – Adana Cement to expand white cement milling

Adana Cement, part of Turkey’s OYAK Group, has placed an order with Loesche for a vertical roller mill to expand its white cement milling capacity by 200tph. The LM 46.4 mill has a transmission power of 2750kW and grinds material to a fineness of eight per cent R90 μm. The mill is expected to become operational in 4Q16. Adana Cement has an installed capacity of over 4Mta and produces both white and grey cement for export to Europe and Asia.

The Turkish Çimsa Cimento ordered 24 Aumund machines for the mill at Çimsa, including 18 deep drawn pan conveyors, five bucket elevators with central chain and a pivoting pan conveyor.
