Loesche LM 56.3+3 vertical roller mill for new Turkish cement plant

Biberci Insaat has ordered a Loesche LM 56.3+3 clinker grinding VRM for a new cement plant in Konya, in the central Anatolia region of Turkey. Limak Holdings eyes Mozambique entry

Turkish conglomerate Limak Holding says it will invest US$150m in a 2Mta cement factory in Mozambique. Limak chairperson, Nihat Ozdemir, said his firm would create least 500 jobs during the first phase of the factory to be built in the Maputo port area. Limak has major interests in construction, cement, electricity and tourism in Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Albania and Macedonia.

Cameroon: Medcem plant to enter service in June

The Medcem cement works, owned by Turkey-based Eren Holdings, is scheduled to come online in June, entering a market already supplied by Lafarge, Ciments d’Afrique and Dangote. EPC contract signed for new Limak cement works, Turkey

China's Sinoma International Engineering Co signed a contract on Friday with Turkey's Limak Holding to build a US$155m cement factory in the capital Ankara. The factory will have a capacity to produce 5000ptd of cement, Limak officials said during a signing ceremony for the equipment, procurement and construction (EPC) contract. Construction is expected to take 20 months and Sinoma expects to complete it in the first quarter of 2017.

Votorantim aims to treble the capacity of its Sivas cement works in Turkey to 1.8Mta at a cost of around EUR140. Work is about to start, with completion scheduled for 2017 and when completed will raise Sivas’ share of Votorantim’s Turkish capacity from 19 to 42 per cent.

Sabanci Holding posts 54% rise in first-quarter profit, Turkey

Sabanci Holding, whose business units include Turkish cement producers Akcansa and Cimsa, on Monday posted a 54 per cent rise in its first-quarter profit to TRL648.5m (US$241m). Revenue amounted to TRL2.48bn in the period, less than the TRL2.54bn in the same period last year, according to a filing with the stock exchange.

Votorantim Cementos has announced a US$1600m investment programme that involves five new cement plants in Brazil, two in Turkey and one in Bolivia as well a the expansion and modernisation of a number of existing facilities. These investments cover the 2015 to 2018 period. These projects will add 6Mta of  capacity in Brazil and 2.5Mt elsewhere. Longer-term, additional capacities are also being considered for the USA and  Morocco.

Loesche installation at Elmadag works, Turkey

Loesche is now starting to install a 260tph raw meal mill at Bastas Baskent Cimento’s Elmadag cement works in Turkey, after a delivery time of just 10 months. Bastas Baskent Cimento is part of the Vicat group of France. Sabanci cement unit seeks acquisition opportunities

Turkey-based Sabanci Holding's cement business expects its sales to rise 10-15 per cent this year after posting a 16 per cent increase to TRL2.5bn (US$980m) in 2014, the cement unit's chief executive said. Sabanci's cement arm is also looking for acquisition opportunities and could borrow up to US$1.5bn to fund an acquisition, Hakan Gurdal told Reuters in an interview.
