Hope Construction Materials signs transport services contract with DB Schenker Rail UK

Hope Construction Materials and DB Schenker Rail UK have have signed a five-year partnership contract for transport services. The agreement covers the transport of aggregates from the quarry at Dowlow near Buxton in the UK to 10 locations across Britain. In 2015 a new depot was opened in Walsall, West Midlands, with further depots planned to open during the contract. Coal is also conveyed twice per week from South Wales to the cement plant in Hope. Hanson UK chief executive officer, Patrick O’Shea, is stepping down in December after eight years at the head of the construction materials business. His successor will be Daniel Cooper, who is currently northern regional general manager for Hanson Australia. Tarmac has announced that its Cement and Lime business has been awarded an ‘Excellent’ rating under BES 6001.   Tarmac’s UK business has held a BES 6001 rating of ‘Very Good’ across its entire product range since 2011.
