Total shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports, in the US and Puerto Rico in December 2019 increased eight per cent YoY to 6.7Mt, according to newly-released data from the US Geological Survey (USGS). Eagle Materials Inc announced it has sold its Western Aggregates and Mathews Ready Mix operations for US$93.5m to Teichert, a California-based construction company. Lehigh Cement has laid off 54 of its 90 employees at its Glen Falls plant, New York state, USA, in the wake of a construction slowdown attributed to the spread of COVID-19.
