SCG forecasts regional capacity will hit 292Mta by 2018

Vietnam is estimated to have produced 11Mt of cement in the first quarter of this year, rising one per cent from a year earlier, the government-run General Statistics Office said. Vietnam's total cement and clinker inventory last month amounted to 3Mt, most of which included clinker, according to local press reports. State-owned Vietnam Cement Industry Corporation (Vicem), accounted for 64 per cent of the total sum with 2Mt of stock. Vietnam’s clinker and cement sales climbed 15 per cent from a year earlier to 6.62Mt in January, the Ministry of Construction said. Of the total 5.12Mt were sold in the domestic market, up 17 per cent YoY while 1.5Mt of cement and clinker were exported, the Xay Dung online newspaper cited the ministry as saying Thursday.
