According to statistics released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, exports of clinker and cement in the first 10 months of 2016 were down 8.4 per cent on the same period a year earlier, Vinanet reports. Residents of the northern Quang Ninh Province's Hoanh Bo District have complained about dust emissions, noise and smoke from the Ha Long Cement plant. Vietnam’s cement production in the first 10 months of 2016 is estimated to be 64Mta, up 14.9 per cent YoY, according to the government-run General Statistics Office. Concerns have arisen that the Vietnamese cement industry will struggle to meet its sales target of 75-77Mt this year as a result of ‘market difficulties’, as reported by Viet Nam News. In September Vietnam’s clinker and cement exports fell 0.3 per cent to 1.15Mt when compared with August but climbed 3.5 per cent to US$48.16m, according the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.
