Kyzylkumcement sees net profit rise 71%

Uzbekistan’s Kyzylkumcement saw a net profit of US$20.3m in January-June 2020, rising 70.9 per cent YoY. Revenue also advanced 12.4 per cent to US$97.1m. The Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with several ministries and 16 organisations to reduce carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emission by at least 300,000t CO 2 by 2022 through clinker substitution. Puerto Rican cement sales up 24% in August

Cement sales in Puerto Rico increased 24.4 per cent to 59,295t in August 2020 when compared with August 2019, according to data provided by Cemex Puerto Rico and Argos San Juan Corp to the Instituto de Estadisticas of Puerto Rico. Output fell 14.9 per cent to 38,551t in August when compared with the year-ago period, as compiled by the country’s Banco de Desarrollo Económico. China’s cement production up 4% in July

Chinese cement output increased 3.6 per cent in July as a pick-up in the economy drove cement consumption, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information technology. China produced 220Mt of cement in July 2020 when compared with July 2019. In the first seven months of 2020, production declined by 3.5 per cent YoY to 1.22bnt. The sector’s total revenues fell 5.5 per cent YoY to CNY510.9bn (US$74.7bn). Its total profits reached CNY92.6bn.

Cement sales in Brazil continued to rise in August with a 13.6 per cent YoY increase to 5.7Mt, reported the country’s cement association, SNIC. Per working day, sales reached 244,400t, representing a YoY increased of 18.5 per cent and 3.7 per cent MoM. Ethiopia’s National Cement (East African Holdings) is currently conducting a study at its plant in Dire Dawa to boost its 3000tpd capacity by 30 per cent. The Minister of Industry of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Julien Paluka, has officially opened the Carrière de Lualaba (CARRILU) cement works in Kolwezi, Lualaba province, DRC. The Argentine cement market contracted 12.5 per cent YoY to 917,297t in August 2020, according to the latest data published by AFCP, the country’s cement association. The aggregate sales of 17 Saudi cement producers climbed 38 per cent to 4.3Mt in August 2020, compared to 3.1Mt in the same month last year, reported Yamama Cement Co.
