Xinjiang Tianshan Cement Co Ltd is in talks with China National Building Material Co Ltd (CNBM), about the acquisition of six of CNBM's cement-making subsidiaries, according to a filing to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Shipments of Portland and blended cement in the US and Puerto Rico fell 7.5 per cent YoY to 8.1Mt in April 2020, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Tunisian cement producer Ciments de Bizerte has seen its total turnover expand 1.6 per cent YoY to TND42.781m (US$15.6m) in the first half of 2020. Domestic turnover edged up 0.2 per cent YoY to TND40.112m while export turnover improved 26.8 per cent YoY to TND2.669m. Cement sales in Morocco increased 33 per cent MoM in June, according to the Department of Studies and Financial Forecasts of the country’s Ministry of Economy, Finance and Administrative Reform. Tanzania Portland Cement (Twiga) has reported a 33 per cent YoY increase in net profit to TZS34.94bn (US$15.05m) in the first half of 2020, against TZS26.19bn in the 1H19. Philippine-based Eagle Cement Corp is now looking to complete its 2Mta Bulacan plant expansion before the year ends, following delays related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
