Pakistan cement exports rise during July and August

According to Federal Bureau of Statistics, Pakistan's cement industry earned foreign exchange revenue of US$27.57m by exporting 617,745t of cement during the month of August 2018, compared to US$20.96m from exporting 475,134t of cement in previous month. This equated to a growth of 31.5 per cent and 30 per cent in terms of value and quantity, respectively MoM. Ciments du Maroc reports 1H turnover down 4%

Ciments du Maroc posted a 1H18 turnover of MAD1.94bn, a 4.2 per cent decrease when compared with the same period in 2016. The sales volume of the company and its subsidiary Indusaha fell 2.6 per cent with domestic demand 2.9 per cent over the period. The gross operating surplus was MAD1bn, up 9.3 per cent as operating performance improved. Operating income rose faster than EBITDA (+12.5 per cent) to MAD739m. Net profit was down 5.1 per cent to MAD573m.

PT Semen Indonesia reports 4% rise in August sales

PT Semen Indonesia reports its cement sales in August 2018 amounted to 20.67Mt, a rise of four per cent compared to 19.88Mt in August 2017. Domestic sales totalled 16.93Mt while exports reached 1.99Mt for the month. Tajik cement exports increased to 0.92Mt in January-August 2018, a rise of 37 per cent in average monthly exports when compared with 2017, according to the country’s statistics agency. South Ferriby Kiln 2 to start production in November

Cemex plans to start up its second kiln at the South Ferriby plant in north Lincolnshire, UK, in November 2018. South Korea’s Ssangyong Cement Industrial Co inaugurated the largest waste heat power generator (WHPG) in a cement plant, according to the Maeil Business Newspaper. Kazakhstan’s Steppe Cement recorded a 22 per cent increase in consolidated turnover to US$32.8m for the 1H18 period. Profit after tax rose to US$200,000 in the period, up from a US$300,000 loss in the 1H17. Iran’s cement exports expanded by 32 per cent during the first four months of the current fiscal year (20 March-22 July 2018), according to the country’s Customs Administration. The country exported cement to the value of US$107m, representing a 32 per cent YoY rise, and a volume of 2.7Mt, up 24 per cent YoY. Cement demand in Morocco increased 7.8 per cent YoY to 1,298,479t in July 2018 from 1,204,101t in the previous year, according to data from the country's Ministry of Housing and Urbanisation. CIMAF expects to launch construction on a second production line at CimGabon's Owendo works, near Libreville, in less than two months.
