Australia’s Boral has announced a 49 per cent YoY surge in in net profit to AUD441m (US$322.45m) for the FY18 ended 30 June. Sales revenue increased 34 per cent to AUD5.9bn, while EBITDA advanced 47 per cent to AUD1.06bn. Ugandan President opens new Simba grinding plant

Uganda's President, Yower Museveni, has opened the Tororo grinding plant of Simba Cement and during the opening the owners of the factory announced that they would produce the lowest-priced cement in the country. Germany consumed approximately 28.8Mt of cement in 2017, roughly 4.8 per cent more than in 2016, according to VDZ. However, much less growth is expected in 2018. Vietnamese exports of cement and clinker soared to 2.251Mt in July 2018, up 61 per cent YoY. CRH has reported its results for the half-year period ended 30 June 2018, announcing a slight increase in revenue of one per cent YoY to EUR11.9bn (US$13.76bn). UltraTech receives approval to acquire cement business

UltraTech has announced that it received approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to acquire the cement business of Century Textiles and Industries. UltraTech is expected to acquire the cement business through a share swap deal to consolidate its position as a market leader.
