US September shipments up 14% YoY

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico in September 2013 were 7.9Mt, up by 14 per cent in September 2012, latest data from the USGS shows. Shipments for the year through September were up by about four per cent to 61.6Mt. Iran cement output rises in first eight months

Iran produced 50.2Mt of cement in the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on March 21, representing a 2.2 per cent YoY rise.   In the eighth calendar month of Aban (ended November 21), output amounted to 5.65Mt.   Some 39.8Mt of cement were supplied to the domestic market in the eight-month period.   The cement output is projected to reach 80Mt by the end of the year, the secretary of Iranian cement industry employers Abdolreza Sheikhan has said.

The Dominican Republic sold around 2.9Mta of cement in 2013, cement association Adocem has said. Compared with 2012 sales, this performance heralds a break with the declining trend witnessed since 2007. Sales in Indonesia increased by 7.9 per cent in October, having experienced slowing growth in recent months. Data from the Indonesian Cement Association shows October sales reached 5.58Mt, rebounding from 5.3 per cent growth in the previous month. Vietnam has reported a double-digit rise in sales over the first 11 months of the year, with exports up 63 per cent YoY. A total of 55.2Mt of cement was sold over Jan-Nov 2013, up 13 per cent from a year earlier, Le Van Toi, director of the Building Material Department, said.
