Cement production growth fuels record-high emissions in China

A 4.1 per cent YoY increase in China’s cement production in the first quarter of 2023 has contributed to a four per cent rise in the country’s CO 2 emissions, marking a record high for the first quarter of a year. Southern Province places contract for two new lines at Jazan

Saudi Arabia-based Southern Province Cement Co has placed an order with Sinoma International Engineering Co for two new 5000tpd production lines at its Jazan cement plant. Line 3 will go under construction first and is due for completion within 18 months. Infrastructure for a second 5000tpd line (Line 4) is also being put in place, with that line expected to complete within 24 months. Sagar Cements plans to commission its new clinker line at Andhra Cements Ltd (ACL) during the current quarter. This forms part of an INR4580m (US$55.6m) investment programme by Sagar Cements to upgrade Andhra Cements’ capacities from 1.65Mta to 2.3Mta of clinker and from 1.8Mta to 3Mta of cement. Following this week's 'Choose France summit', Heidelberg Materials has announced the investment of EUR65m to accelerate the decarbonisation of its Bussac-Forê t cement plant in the west of France. Consolidated net sales for Buzzi Unicem in the 1Q23 reached EUR955.9m, a rise of 19.5 per cent compared to EUR8000.1m the 1Q22. BUA Cement posts 9.7% rise in net revenue in 1Q23

BUA Cement reports its net revenues rose by 9.7 per cent to NGN106.4bn for the quarter from NGN97bn (US$209.7m) in the same period a year ago.    BUA Cement’s 1Q23 revenue per tonne increased by 18.5 per cent to NGN66,250/t from NGN55,904/t in the 1Q22.
