Costa Rica: residents seek relief from dust

Residents of Lourdes de Agua Caliente, Cartago, Costa Rica, have spoken out about dust emissions from a nearby Holcim Costa Rica plant. The Ministry of Health visited the plant in question this week, ordering it to control its dust emissions. Adelaide Brighton Cement Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adelaide Brighton Ltd, has signed a gas purchase agreement with Beach Energy Ltd for the delivery of exMoomba of processed sales gas from Beach's 100 per cent owned Western Flank acreage. Shree Cement awaits environmental clearance for West Bengal grinding unit

Shree Cement is awaiting environmental clearance for its cement grinding unit in West Bengal, India. The company plans to build a 5Mta grinding plant at Prabatpur and Digha villages, Raghunathpur, Puralia district. The estimated INR6bn (US$88m) project also includes a 20MW coal- and petcoke-based captive power unit. A public hearing is scheduled for 9 December 2016. Shree Cement is yet to finalise the contractor and equipment supplier for the project.

Protests again Semen Indonesia plant

Approximately 300 people from Rembang, Central Java, have marched 150km in protest of the construction of a cement plant in the area by state-owned Semen Indonesia. The march was undertaken in a bid to force Central Java Governor, Ganjar Pranowo, to revoke the environmental permit issued to Semen Indonesia for the project in 2012.

Vietnam: Ha Long Cement dust complaints

Residents of the northern Quang Ninh Province's Hoanh Bo District have complained about dust emissions, noise and smoke from the Ha Long Cement plant.
