Ciments de Bizerte registers 20% drop in 1Q15 turnover

Tunisia’s Ciments de Bizerte saw its turnover fall by 19.6 per cent YoY in 1Q15 to TND11.115m. In Tunisia, the figure fell by 11.5 per cent as domestic demand fell by 9.7 per cent. However, the company noted a 84 per cent drop in exports due to the volatility of the Algerian market and the weak demand from Libya.

Clinker, cement account for 42% of Vietnam's 1Q exports to Bangladesh

Clinker and cement remained Vietnam’s major exports to Bangladesh in the first quarter of this year with export revenue of US$70.1m despite a decline of 33.6 per cent from the same period of last year. The figure accounted for 42 per cent of the country’s total exports to Bangladesh in the period, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade said on its website late Tuesday.

Peru cement sales down 1%, exports up 50% in March

Peru’s cement dispatches fell one per cent YoY to 806,000t in March as public spending was down and rains affected the construction industry, according to cement association Asocem. Regional and municipal governments saw their spending cut by 30 and 61 per cent, respectively. Output in the country’s cement plants increased two per cent to 861,000t when compared with March 2014. Saudi Cement net profit up 6%

Saudi Cement has reported a 5.9 per cent increase in first-quarter net profit on Tuesday as higher exports boosted its earnings. Saudi Arabia's largest cement company by market value said in a bourse filing its net profit for the three months to 31 March was SAR303m (US$80.8m), compared to SAR286m in the corresponding period of 2014. It attributed its net profit rise to increased export sales and higher profit from associated companies.

Semen Padang posts 1Q sales decline, Indonesia

PT Semen Padang, part of the Semen Indonesia group of companies, reported a 6.8 per cent decrease in sales volumes in the first quarter of this year to 1.5Mt. Indonesia first-quarter sales down 3.2%

Indonesian cement consumption fell by 3.2 per cent YoY in the January-March period, latest figures from the Indonesia Cement Association (ASI) show. Over the first three months of the year, consumption dropped to 13.63Mt compared to 14.08Mt in 1Q14. Pakistan cement exports to its main international market of Afghanistan have fallen by a quarter in the first nine months of the current fiscal, industry officials said on Wednesday. Pakistan cement dispatches increased by four per cent to 25.65Mt in the first nine months of the current fiscal compared to 24.78Mt in the same period of the previous year, according to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).
