Senegal demand surges but exports fall in April

The Senegalese cement market expanded by 158.7 per cent in April 2021, according to the Agence Nationale de la Statistique et de la Demographie. However, domestic output declined by 9.9 per cent while export sales slipped by 3.5 per cent YoY in April 2021.

The Iranian cement market consumed 5.78Mt of cement in June 2021, remaining level with the 5.78Mt reported in May. This demand was entirely met by local cement production, which reached 6.02Mt in June while clinker production stood at 6.75Mt. The Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) of Pakistan has released cement export data for the just-concluded FY20-21 (July 2020-June 2021). Vietnam considers higher cement export tariff

Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance (MoF) has reportedly proposed that the government consider increasing the export tariffs for clinker to 10 per cent from five per cent, according to Vietnam News. The MoF explained that exports of cement and clinker are not sustainable as their production uses non-renewable sources. Cement and clinker producers in Vietnam are also making use of a low electricity tariff.

Bangladesh's cement industry has earned export revenue of US$7.26m in the last fiscal year (July 2020-June 2021), compared to US$9.14m in the year-ago period, a fall of 20.6 per cent YoY. Peru’s cement market expanded by 66 per cent YoY to 1.085Mt in June 2021, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Spanish cement exports have seen growth slow to 35.9 per cent YoY to 3.8Mt in the first half of 2021, down from 38.2 per cent in the 5M21, according to Spanish cement association, Oficemen. ADY Express LLC, a subsidiary of Azerbaijan Railways, has started transporting cement produced by Holcim Azerbaijan OJSC to Georgia by rail. Turkey sees 24% in exports in 4M21

Turkey’s cement export values increased by 23.5 per cent to US$1.41bn in the January-April 2021 period when compared to the equivalent period in 2020, according to the Turkish Ministry of Trade. Exports to Georgia were up 2.3 per cent to US$13.1m in the four-month period. In April 2021 Turkey exported cement with a value over US$402.5m to global markets, representing an advance of 74 per cent YoY.
