Ukraine's cement association, Ukrcement, has appealed to the government to amend the current electricity import rate of 80 per cent. Cement demand in Argentina fell 32.8 per cent YoY and seven per cent MoM to 725,661t in June 2024, according to the country’s cement association, AFCP. This includes 81t of imports. Domestic cement dispatches in Peru slipped two per cent YoY in May 2024 to 0.958Mt from 0.977Mt in May 2023, according to the country's cement association, ASOCEM. Total cement shipments of Portland and blended cement in the USA and Puerto Rico, including imports, declined by 8.1 per cent YoY to 8.01Mt in March 2024, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS). Argentina's cement market contracted by 27.2 per cent YoY to 780,541t in May 2024 from 1,071,951t, but compared with April 2024, dispatches were up 19 per cent, reports the country's cement association, AFCP. Domestic production was down 27.1 per cent YoY to 785,211t in May 2024 from 1,077,128t, but up 18.7 per cent MoM.
