Indian cement industry registers 6.34% growth in February

After a continuous growth of over nine per cent since November 2009, the Indian cement industry registered its lowest growth rate for the second half of the current financial year in the month of February 2010. BBMG to set up two joint ventures

BBMG Corp announced that it plans to spend a total of RMB240m (US$35m) to set up two cement joint ventures, one in Lan County, Shanxi Province and one in Jiaozuo, Henan Province. Egypt has postponed until next Tuesday a decision on whether to either reinstate or confirm the cancellation of two cement licences, a government official and a cement executive said. Venezuela’s state cement producer Cemex is adding around 6.6MW of capacity to the country’s national grid, state distribution company Cadafe said in a statement. Iran cement output increases

Iran produced over 47.44Mt of cement in the first 11 months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2009). This translates into a 17 per cent  YoY increase, the Mehr News Agency reported. Some 62.84Mt of clinker was also produced, 15 per cent more than the year before. Iran currently produces some 65Mta of cement.

Egypt’’s Torah Cement posted a 23 per cent rise in 2009 net profit to E£341.7m, the stock exchange said on Tuesday. The firm made a net profit of E£277.2m in 2008.
