Venezuela is considering legal action to force Cemex to return ships it removed from the country during a nationalisation dispute, Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez said on Friday . Pakistan’s cement industry will import just over 4Mt of steam coal in 2010 from South Africa and Indonesia, up from around 3.7-3.8Mt last year, Pakistani and Indian coal trading sources said. An Indian-based company has formally acquired 650 acres of land to set up a cement plant in Pokot Central in the North Rift region, Kenya. Cemtech/Sanghi Group CEO Rawal Jayesh said his company had bought the land at Sebit area in Sigor Division. Cement and clinker trading company, CTI Group Inc, has agreed to acquire a minority stake in Indonesian cement producer Bosowa’s Semen Batam plant. Gujarat-based Sanghi Industries, part of the Sanghi Group, plans to raise about INR660 crore in debt for part-financing an expansion programme that will almost triple its current capacity.
