Farmers protest proposed cement plant in Gujarat

TPI Polene to pay THB0.10 dividend

TPI Polene PCL of Thailand said Friday that its board has agreed to pay a dividend of THB0.10 a share for last year’s performance.   The dividend will be paid on May 27 to shareholders on record as of March 15, the company said in a statement to the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

Ash Grove’s Durkee plant reopens

Ash Grove Cement’s Durkee plant is back in operation. After bringing back 48 laid-off employees over the past two weeks, the plant began the process of making cement on Monday.  Seventeen workers returned earlier in the month to begin preparation for plant operation. At the recently held World of Concrete meeting, Ed Sullivan chief economist at the Portland Cement Association (PCA) gave an outlook on the US cement industry 2010-14. HeidelbergCement India, which had acquired Indorama Cement and Mysore Cement, is all set to double its capacity from present 3.07Mta to 6Mta by March 2012. BBMG Corporation, said it plans to pay about US$74m to Lafarge China Overseas Holding Co Ltd to purchase shares in two cement makers and one concrete company. Egypt’s Suez Cement said on Thursday it posted a 25 percent rise in 2009 net profit to E£1.3bn (US$236.9m). The firm, Egypt’s largest listed cement maker by market value and a subsidiary of Italcementi , said its net sales were at E£6.38bn.
