Chhattisgarh truck owners seek 12% increase in transport rates

Truck owners under the umbrella of The Chhattisgarh Transport Association, India, are demanding in a 12 per cent rise in charges to transport cement from plants due to an increase in diesel prices. Cambodia’s Conch KT Cement (Phnom Penh) plans to build a US$263m cement factory in Aoral, Kampong Speu province, with a 2Mta capacity, according to the Phnom Penh Post. Conch KT Cement is a joint venture between China’s Conch International Holding (HK) Ltd and Battambang KT Cement. Tajikistan to see exports rise to 1.9Mt by 2023

Tajikistan is expected to see cement exports increase by 200,000tpa and reach 1.9Mt by 2023. Overall cement production in the country is also projected to rise to 5.3Mt by the same time. More than 4.2Mt of cement was produced in 2020 and over 1.3Mt was exported to neighbouring countries, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies. Uzbekistan (764,000t) and Afghanistan (505,000t) were the main importers, while 42,000 were sent to Kyrgyzstan.

Cement demand in Spain has declined 2.4 per cent YoY to 1,136,748t in February 2021, according to Oficemen, the country’s cement association. Chilean cement market expands 4% in January

Chile’s cement demand increased 4.4 per cent to 346,463t in January 2021 when compared with January 2020, when demand reached 331,783t, according to CChC, the Chilean construction chamber. However, when compared with December 2020, consumption fell by 5.1 per cent from 364,925t.

Senegalese cement output up 9% in December 2020

The production of cement in Senegal has advanced 8.9 per cent MoM in December 2020. However, domestic cement sales have slipped by 0.1 per cent  while exports were down 9.2 per cent MoM, according to the national statistics and demographic agency, ANSD. When compared with the year-ago period, production edged up 0.9 per cent, while local sales remained stable and exports contracted by 17 per cent.

Peru’s cement dispatches advance 14% in February

Cement dispatches in Peru increased 14 per cent YoY to 1.039Mt in February 2021 from 0.91Mt in February 2020, marking the sixth-consecutive monthly rise, according to the country’s cement producers’ association, Asocem. Philippines expands import safeguard measures

The Philippines has expanded the list of countries covered in its cement import safeguard measures. Cement consumption in Morocco fell eight per cent to 1,079,983t in February 2021 from 1,173,350t in February 2020, reports the country’s Ministry of Urbanisation and Housing. In the January-February 2021 period demand decreased 10.1 per cent YoY to 2,116,988t from 2,355,548t in the 2M20.

Total shipments of Portland and blended cement, including imports, in the USA and Puerto Rico increased 13 per cent YoY to 7.5Mt in December 2020, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
