The Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry is expected to begin investigating allegations of cement dumping from Vietnam, following applications by three local manufacturers, according to the Manilla Standard. Cement deliveries in Chile increased by six per cent to 351,735t in February 2021 when compared with February 2020 when 331,905t were dispatched, according to the Chilean construction chamber, CChC. When compared with January 2021 the increase was 1.5 per cent from 346,463t.

Tunisia-based Les Ciments de Bizerte advanced its total revenues to TND40.2m (US$14.7m) in the 1Q221, up 61 per cent when compared with TND25m in January-March 2020. Cement deliveries in Switzerland (including Liechtenstein) slipped 1.1 per cent in the first quarter of 2021 when compared to the 1Q20, which was the last not fully affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Swiss cement association, Cemsuisse. Cement sales in Vietnam slipped nine per cent YoY to 5.903Mt in March 2021, according to the Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA). Sales by VICEM and its affiliates were down by 12  per cent YoY to 1.966Mt and 1.557MtMt, respectively while other cement producers saw a five per cent decrease in sales to 2.38Mt. Cement dispatches in Peru surged 151 per cent YoY to 1.09Mt in March 2021 from a low base of 0.435Mt in March 2020, when the country faced measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, according to its national cement association, Asocem.
