CH Clinker setting up Ethiopia factory

CH Clinker Manufacturing PLC, a Chinese private company, is setting up a cement factory in Ethiopia with installed capacity of 10,000tpd, reports Ethiopian Reporter. Registered with a three billion birr capital at the Ethiopian Investment Agency, the Chinese company is building the cement plant in Oromia region, northern Shoa where raw material for cement production is abundant. The Chinese company is presently building a 12-km access road to and from the plant it will set up at the site.

Cement manufacturers have hiked prices of the commodity by 10 rupees per 50kg in Uttar Pradesh from Tuesday, dealers and stockists told  NewsWire18 today. YTL acquires quarry business, Malaysia

Malaysian cement producer, YTL Cement Bhd has agreed to buy a quarry-related business from its parent YTL Corp for MYR150m. The purchase is intended to “rationalize” the group’s quarry business by “housing these operations” under YTL Cement, it said in a statement.

Ssangyong Cement Industrial to sell stake in shipping arm

Ssangyong Cement Industrial Co., Ltd., a manufacturer of cement and ready-mixed concrete, is planning to sell 6,870,000 shares, representing approximately a 15% stake, in Ssangyong Shipping Co, Ltd., a provider of sea transportation services, for KRW20,000m($17.32 million). Pursuant to the transaction, Ssangyong Cement will hold 54.94% stake in Ssangyong Shipping. Both the companies are based in South Korea.

Dyckerhoff to acquire cement transport assets

Dyckerhoff AG will acquire all except two of Sievert AG’s cement transport companies in exchange for its 32 per cent stake in Osnabrueck, Germany-based Sievert, Handelsblatt said, citing an unidentified spokeswoman. Hann Muenden, Germany-based August Oppermann will take over the remaining two companies and give up its holding in Sievert, the German newspaper reported.

Pakistan prices see gradual rebound

Cement prices in Pakistan have started to rebound gradually and are up by Rs10-15 (US$0.12-0.18) per bag from two weeks ago. Dalmia Cement in talks to raise funds for expansion, India

Indian cement producer, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd  is in talks to raise INR12bn to fund its expansion, The Economic Times reported Monday, citing an unnamed source. Dalmia Cement, which plans to double its capacity in four years, may offer a stake in the company or its subsidiary, Dalmia Cement Ventures, the report said without elaborating. Dalmia Cement Managing Director Puneet Dalmia confirmed the company was in talks to raise funds.
