Shree Cement Ltd proposes to invest in increasing cement and power capacities. The National Development and Reform Committee (NDRC) announced that domestic cement production reached 734.62Mt in the first half year, increasing by 14.9 per cent on a YoY basis. The annual growth in cement sales by Saudi firms rose to 4.7 per cent in June, more than twice its level in May, according to data released on Saturday by NCB Capital. Saudi cement firms despatched 19.36Mt of cement in the six months to June 30, up 4.7 per cent from the same period earlier, data in a NCB Capital report showed. Ambuja Cement production up by 8.2 per cent

Ambuja Cements Ltd (ACL) today announced that production of cement for the quarter ended June 30, went up by 8.2 per cent, to 4.9Mt, compared to 4.5Mt for the same quarter last year. Sales volumes increased by 10.3 per cent, from 4.4 to 4.8Mt, of which exports were 0.22Mt compared to 0.08Mt last year. Raysut cement Q2 profit up by nine per cent

Oman’s Raysut Cement Company reported the profit of SAR9.46m in the 2Q up 8.99% from the year earlier period. It said that the company had profit of SAR 17.3m before tax in the 6 months ended June 30th compared with SAR 20.53m a year ago. Reuters calculated the Q2 figure based on the company’s earlier financial statements. Raysut Cement posted a net profit of SAR 8.68 million in the Q2 of 2008.

India’s Shree Cement Ltd said Friday its fiscal first-quarter net profit soared from a year earlier, helped by increased contribution from its power business. The company’s net profit for the quarter ended June 30 rose to INR2.91bn from INR1.11bn in the year-earlier period, the company said in a statement. Albania approves construction of plants worth over EUR1bn

Albania has approved urban planning studies that open the way for the construction of new cement plants totaling more than EUR1bn. The Territory Adjustment Council (TACRA) chaired by Prime Minister Sali Berisha approved the studies, the cabinet (www.km.gov.al) said in a statement.
