 Ciments Francais saw its operating profit slump by 21.5 per cent to EUR200m  in the third quarter, while the net profit (group share) fell by 12.6 per cent to EUR109m. Siemens AG new order from Ciments du Maroc

Siemens AG announced that the Siemens Industry Solutions Division has received an order from the Moroccan company Ciments du Maroc, Casablanca, to supply electrical equipment for the new cement works at Ait Baha near Agadir, Morocco. The order, valued at around EUR9m, also includes installation services. Commissioning is scheduled for the end of August 2009.

Pretoria Portland Cement (PPC) posted an eight per cent rise in full-year headline earnings per share but southern Africa cement sales volumes slipped due to a tough housing market. Carolinas Cement Company, a subsidiary of Titan, announced the purchase of additional property south of Holly Shelter Road, across from the site of its proposed cement plant. The Thai Binh Cement Joint Stock Company will list more than 1 million shares at the Hanoi Securities Trading Centre (HASTC) under the code TBX starting November 18. Brazil Jan-Oct cement sales grow 15.7 per cent

Cement sales grew 15.7% January-October in Brazil compared with the same period last year, to 42.86Mt according to figures out Friday from the National Cement Industry Association (Snic). In October these sales rose 11.6% to 4.82Mt, while sales per day grew 7.2% from October 2007, but fell 1.4% in relation to September 2008.

India Cements Ltd , southern India’s biggest cement maker, sees no slowdown in demand despite the ongoing economic downturn, a top official said. "Overall growth has been eight per cent this year and the south which is our main market has grown about 12 percent," N Srinivasan, vice-chairman and managing director,told newschannel NDTV Profit.
