Cement prices rise to PKR230-265 per bag, Pakistan

The cement rates per bag have been raised by Rs 2.5 to Rs 3 by the manufacturers, traders said Tuesday. "The rates have gone up from Tuesday. The companies have raised the prices", a cement dealer in the twin-cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, confirmed. Following this increase, the retail price of cement has shot up to minimum Rs 230 and maximum Rs 265 per bag, he added saying the hike is thanks to the raise in petroleum products’ prices.

New Romanian cement terminal opens

A 1Mta cement terminal owned by the company Decirom, has become operational in the Black Sea Port of Constanta.     The terminal, worth EUR12m, is the second biggest investment the company made in Constanta Port.     Decirom general manager Valeriu Bajenaru says that over 300,000t of imported cement will be operated through the new terminal this year alone and will have a positive impact over the domestic cement market. 

FLSmidth to supply cement plant featuring Egypt’s largest cement mill

The Federal Government has granted 13 companies licenses to import bulk cement in order to curtail the escalating prices of cement in the country.     Minister for Commerce and Industry, Chief Charles Ugwu, made the announcement in Lagos on Sunday. India cement output growth to register slow down in FY08

This financial year, the domestic cement industry is expected to witness the third lowest production growth rate in a decade at seven per cent. However, companies said it was just a temporary phase and more due to a high base effect.
