Akcansa posts TRY 186m net profit

Turkish Akcansa announced that it recorded a net profit of TRY 185.8m last year while increasing turnover by 20% YoY to TRY690.6m.  Akcansa is a joint venture by local  Sabanci Holding and HeidelbergCement. The company raised domestic cement sales by 21% YoY to 5Mt compared to 2006 while ready-mix concrete sales were up by 10% YoY to 3.2Mm3.  

Gresik projects 2007 net Profit at IDR1.7trn, discusses expansion plans

The Semen Gresik Group (SGG) is optimistic that its unaudited net profits in 2007 would reach IDR1.7 trillion, up by 31.78% from IDR1.29 trillion in 2006.    SGG is going to spend a total US$1.6bn to construct new factories, boost capacity, and develop new power plants. The Baharoun investment company has announced it intends setting up a cement factory in the Shuqra region of Abyan governorate, Yemen with a capacity of 1.5Mta. Work starts on Albanian cement plant

Work started on a new €170m cement plant outside the Albanian capital, in the latest sign of increased foreign investment flowing into the country. Portuguese construction and cement group Semapa is seen to post a net profit of EUR141 mln euro (US$209.1m) for 2007, compared to EUR91.4m (US$135.6m) for 2006, projections of Spanish bank Santander showed on February 22, 2008.     Semapa’s EBITDA are expected to rise by 13 per cent to EUR422m (US$625.8m).
