ACC production increases 15 per cent

Cement production of ACC increased 15 per cent to 1.69Mt in February against 1.47Mt in the same period last year. Sajjan Jindal-owned JSW Steel Group will be setting up a 3Mt cement plant at Salboni in West Bengal. The company has already decided to develop a 10Mt integrated steel plant with an investment of Rs 35,000 crore at the same place. “We have planned a 3Mt cement plant. Dalmia Cement Feb shipments up 7.7 per cent YoY

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd said its February cement shipments rose 7.7 percent to 287,000t, while production in the month rose 4.2 per cent to 265,000t.    Its total shipments and production in April-February rose about 24 per cent to about 3Mt each, the company said in a statement. Cimpor buys quarries, six cement plants in Spain for EUR80m

Readymix profit plummet 35 per cent on slowdown

Spanish cement company  Cementos Molins booked an EUR118m (US$179.9m) net profit for 2007, up eight per cent YoY, the company said on March 3, 2008.     Sales rose by 11 pct to EUR816m (US$1.244bn). Aditya Birla Feb cement shipments up 5.3 per cent YoY

India’s Aditya Birla Group’s cement shipments in February rose 5.3 per cent to 2.73Mt from year earlier.     Cement production rose 5.7 per cent to 2.75Mt, it said in a statement on Monday.     The group includes flagship Grasim Industries Ltd and UltraTech Cement Ltd , with a combined cement making capacity of more than 31Mt.

Cementir buys Danish concrete company for EUR21m

Cementir SpA said it has bought 100 per cent of Danish concrete company Kudsk & Dahl for EUR21m, in a deal that will allow the Italian cement group to generate higher synergies and consolidate its presence in Scandinavia.     Kudsk & Dahl sells about 1.2Mt of aggregates and 100,000m3 of concrete per year, generating revenues of about EUR16m and a gross operating profit of EUR3m, it said.     Cementir carried out the acquisition through its Unicon subsidiary.
