Boral 1H net falls on Australia, US housing slump

Serbian Railway Co to enable rail transport for Lafarge Serbian Unit

Volskcement Board recommends to accept offer from Alpha Cement

The Board of Directors of Volskcement (Saratov region, Russia) at its meeting on February 4, 2008 decided to recommend that shareholders of the company accept an offer of Alpha Cement on aquisition of stocks. The price of the offer is RUR8,930 per stock, the company said in an official statement. 

HeidelbergCement Ukrainian plants up output 15%

Ukrainian plants within the  HeidelbergCement Group increased production 14.8% in 2007 to 4.3Mt of cement.   Doncement (Donetsk region) increased output 20.7% to 1.84Mt, Krivoi Rog Cement (Dnepropetrovsk region) raised production 1.7% to 1.51Mt, Cement Donbass (Donetsk region) saw a 150% surge to 377,000t and Dniprocement (Dnepropetrovsk region) saw output drop 3% to 554,000t of cement, the companies told Interfax.  

Turkey’s Oyak Cement 2007 sales up 10 per cent

Turkish Oyak Cement Group’s net sales rose some 10 per cent to TRL850m (US$690m) last year, while EBITDA amounted to TRL400m, its chairman said on Monday, quoting preliminary results.     Celal Caglar, chairman of Oyak Cement, whose four cement units are listed, told Reuters the company targeted net sales of TRL915m this year, including exports of TRL268m.    Its four listed companies are Adana Cement , Bolu Cement , Mardin Cement and Unye Cement.

Taiwan Cement to raise domestic prices by 10%

Taiwan Cement Corp will increase domestic bulk cement prices by 10% to NT$2,500/t in March to reflect rising material costs, the Economic Daily News reported Tuesday, citing company Vice President Huang Chien-chiang.    Because Taiwan Cement controls 52% of the island’s cement market, smaller rivals Asia Cement Corp. , Chia Hsin Cement Corp.  and Universal Cement Corp. will likely follow suit, the Chinese-language newspaper added. 

Indian cement industry reports moderate quarterly growth

During the December 2007 quarter, the Indian cement sector reported a moderate growth in sales and profits over the robust growth seen during the corresponding quarter of the previous year, according to a report by the Economic Times of India. South Africa monthly cement sales solid

Cement sales in South Africa increased 5.8 per cent YoY in January 2008 from the 7.4% YoY increase reported in December, according to Cement and Concrete Institute (CNCI) data. At the end of January 2008, cement sales were reported up to 15.29Mt from the 14.45Mt reported a year earlier.
