In the proposed budget for FY09 (fiscal year starts in October) the Bush Administration has set highway funding at US$39.4bn, which is US$1.8bn (c.4%) short of the proposal under SAFETEA-LU (the current multi-year highway programme) and the level enacted in FY08. CNBM invests RMB 33bn in cement industry

ACC Ltd said its cement production for the month of January 2008 is 1.67Mt, up from 1.66Mt in the previous year. The Indian cement company said its cement sales for the month rose to 1.68Mt from 1.67Mt in the previous year.

Dalmia Cement Jan shipments at 259,000t

Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd  said its January cement shipments rose 5.7 per cent to 259,000t from 245,000t a year earlier.     Production in January rose 6.6 per cent to 275,000t from 258,000t a year ago.     Its total shipments and production in April-January rose more than a quarter to 2.7Mt each, the company said in a statement. 

Shiva Cement sales rise 15.4% in Jan 2008

Shiva Cement said that the sales of cement and clinker for the month of January 2008, rose by 15.4% as compared to January, 2007. During the quarter ended December 2007, the sales of cement and clinker was up by 10.62%, compared with the quarter ended December 2006. Shiva Cement is a Rourkela-based cement company. The company has its plants located at Kalunga and Sundargarh in Orissa. The company has a combined installed capacity of 177,000tpa.

Gulf Cement mulls higher stake for non-Qataris

Qatar producer Gulf Cement is considering a higher 49% stake for non-Qatari investors, the third listed entity to make such a move. Cement exports in January hit a record high of 618,000t breaking the previous record of 575,000t shipped out in August 2007 data available with the research department of a brokerage house revealed. As per the data compiled by the JS Global research, January 2008 cement exports have increased by a massive 152 per cent on YoY basis and by 60 per cent when compared to December 2007.
