Outlook: Buzzi Unicem FY revenues may rise 10% on Eastern Europe

Buzzi Unicem SpA is expected to show an up to 10 per cent rise in full-year revenues when it reports its preliminary results on Friday, driven by continued strength in eastern Europe, analysts said.     Revenues are seen rising to 3.472 bln eur from 3.205 bln in 2006, according to an average of estimates from six analysts, whose forecasts range between 3.385-3.516 bln eur. Shree Cement Jan shipments up 41 per cent YoY

Shree Cement Ltd said on Monday its January shipments rose 40.59 per cent to 5.8Mt from 4.09Mt a year earlier.     Total shipments between April 2007 to January 2008 rose 24.8 per cent to 4.93Mt from 3.95Mt in the same period a year ago, the company said in a statement.     The cement maker has a capacity to produce 8Mta of cement at its plant in the northern state of Rajasthan.

PPC says it expects to finalise empowerment deal by March, South Africa

At a recent shareholder meeting, cement company PPC said it hopes to finalise its empowerment deal by March.    Last year the company had had to import 5% of its cement from China and Zimbabwe to meet growing domestic demand but such growth could not continue indefinitely, and sales slowed to 6.6% last year. Lafarge Ciments to invest EUR20m in grinding facility

Lafarge Ciments said it will invest EUR20m in its facility in Brest, northwestern France, according to local press reports.     Located at the Brest Port, the cement grinding unit will be expanded as the group plans to raise output from 150,000tpa to 300,000tpa.       The investment programme is subject to approval by the competent authorities and environmental protection bodies.  

Northern Osetiya and UMMC start construction of new plant, Russia

The ceremony of laying the first stone for Alagir Cement Plant is scheduled for today, February 1. The new plant will be built under the agreement reached by the Northern Osetiya’s Government and Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company UMMC. Investments into the project are estimated at RUR5.8bn, the plant’s projected capacity is 1.5Mt.

Birla Corp net sees increase of 11.84 per cent

Birla Corporation, the flagship company of the MP Birla group, has reported a net profit of INR106.40 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2007, an increase of 11.84 per cent over the same period last year. Operating profit increased 10 per cent to INR150 crore.
