Ukraine production up 21.4 per cent

Ukrain production increased 21.4 per cent to 6.921Mt in the first six months of 2007 YoY.   June saw 1.4Mt of cement produced, a 7.4 per cent increase over June 2006, the State Statistics Committee reported.    

Vietnam Produces 17.5Mt of Cement in H1

Thai TPI Polene Q2 net profit rises, beats forecast

Prosperity Minerals Holdings Ltd said Monday that the share restructuring at  Anhui Chaodong Cement Co. Limited has now received all the necessary regulatory approvals. Regulatory ok for Holcim take-over of Bulgaria plant

The Bulgarian unit of Holcim has secured the approval of the local anti-trust authority for the acquisition of a 90.42 per cent stake in ZSK-Kremikovtzi, a local producer of steel-reinforced concrete products. The anti-trust notification from  Holcim specifies that the core business of the ZSK plant is planned to be transferred to third parties before the deal is finalised. In Bulgaria,  Holcim owns the Plevenski Tsiment mill,  Holcim Quarry Materials, Quarries, Komars and Ekorek Bulgaria.  

Cemex 2Q net profit rises six per cent

Cemex said Thursday its net profit rose 6% year-on-year in the second quarter, with sales increasing in all regions around the world where the company operates except for the U.S.     Cemex, the world’s biggest supplier of ready-mix concrete and No. 3 cement maker, reported a net profit of $611m, compared with $579m in the year-earlier period.     Cemex’s consolidated sales also rose 6% to $4.9bn. Shree Cement April-June net profit up 29 per cent

India’s  Shree Cement Ltd. on Thursday posted a 29 per cent rise in April-June net profit on improved price realisation and sales, beating analyst expectations.     A company official said total sales volumes during the quarter went up by 22 per cent while net price realisation went up by 13 percent.     There was also a savings of 27 percent in the company’s interest costs thanks to prepayment of some loans, Executive Director, M.K. Singhi said.

Bulgaria’s anti-trust regulator said on Thursday it gave the green light to the local unit of global cement maker  Holcim to acquire a majority stake in building materials manufacturer ZSK Kremikovtzi.     ZSK Kremikovtzi’s sole valuable asset is a gravel pit near the Bulgarian capital Sofia, Holcim Bulgaria’s CEO Todor Kostov said.
