Zanjan opens first cement factory, Iran

Iran’s Social Security and Welfare Minister has inaugurated the first cement factory in Zanjan province located 60km from its capital. Zanjan Cement Factory is situated along the Soltaniyeh-Qeydar road and has launched production on a trial basis for some time, Fars reported. Brazil: Holcim considers cement expansion

With an eye in the heated civil construction market  Holcim is planning to add capacity either setting up its fifth cement plant or expanding existing units. Production in Morocco’s cement industry increased by 18.5% in the first half of 2007, compared to a 10.4% growth in the same period during 2006, MAP quoted the  organization of cement producers (APC) as saying on Monday (July 16th). A significant reduction in manufacturing costs has seen Athi River Mining record a 63 per cent increase in its profits before tax to Sh285 million for the half-year period ended June 30.
