Binani Cement Limited on Wednesday said it has initiated preliminary steps for exploitation of lignite mine recently allotted to it at Nimbri Chandavan in Rajasthan. China produced 488Mt of cement in the first five months of 2007, up 16.10% YoY, according to data released by the Chinese National Development and Reform Commission on July 2nd. A booming construction sector is leading to high demand for cement in Kazakhstan. Cement prices in Pakistan have fallen further by Rs10 per 50kg bag, standing at Rs195 in the local market compared to the previous level of Rs205. In the last 15 days, the cement rates have dropped by Rs45 per bag due to the inactive manufacturers’ cartel and slowdown in construction activities caused by recent heavy rainfall. India Cement companies up prices by INR3-INR5/bag

Indian cement companies have raised prices by INR3-INR5 for a 50kg/bag, a senior industry official said Wednesday.     "The price hike has been effected today. It will be mostly across the country," Sanjay Ladiwala, president of the Cement Stockists and Dealers Association, told Dow Jones Newswires.     After the hike, wholesale cement prices in Mumbai will range between INR238-INR240 for a 50-kg bag.  

Kryvyi Rih Tsement increases output by 7.3%
