Semen Padang surpasses production target

State cement maker PT Semen Padang said on Wednesday its net profit in 2006 rose 33.39 per cent to Rp242.6bn from a year earlier on higher demand for its product.   Semen Padang produced 5.3Mt of cement last year, surpassing the production target of 5.1Mt, the company’s president director, E Irzal, said. Compared to 2005, the production in 2006 represented a 3.9 per cent increase. The company has set itself the target of selling Rp3 trillion worth of cement this year.

Beiliu Conch’s first 5000tpd clinker line operational

A 5000tpd cement production line funded by Anhui-based Conch Cement Company’s subsidiary, Beiliu Conch Company, in Beiliu City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, went into formal operation on June 22nd, according to news by Anhui-based Conch Cement Company.

Pakistan cement prices rise amid strong rains

Two Pakistan cement companies have raised prices of their products during the last few days despite sluggish demand, said dealers. They said that Dadabhoy Cement has raised the price of ordinary Portland cement to Rs232 per 50kg bag from Rs 222-224. Lucky Cement, the largest producer of cement in the country, pushed its price to Rs240 from Rs238 the other day. DIPP wants cement to be under ’core sector’, India

Through Ciments Français, Italcementi has acquired 100% of the shares in Fuping Cement from the Chinese group Zhejiany Guangyu for around US$70m. Anhui Conch to sell additional 200m A-shares to finance projects

China’s Anhui Conch Cement Co Ltd  said its board has approved the sale of an additional 200m A-shares to both institutional and individual investors to fund several cement and power generation projects.     In a statement to the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the company said proceeds from the share sale will be used to construct 32 cement and power generation projects which cost 12.04 bln yuan.     The plan is subject to shareholders’ approval.  

Belarus’ cement output up 15.3% YoY, January-May

Belarus’ cement output increased 15.3% YoY in January-May to 1.466Mt,  according to data from the Statistics Ministry.     Belarus’ OAO Krasnoselskstroymaterialy, based in the Grodno Region, turned out 666,247t of cement, up 10.8% on the year, to Br67.836bn.
