Malaysia okays 10% rise in cement price

The government of Malaysia has approved a 10% increase in the price of cement, the first rise in more than a decade, an industry executive said Friday.    His comments sent shares of cement makers sharply higher.    The executive told Dow Jones Newswires that the government has approved the sale of cement at MYR218 a metric ton from the current MYR198 a ton, which was set in 1995.    The government sets the ceiling price for many sensitive items such as cement, sugar, flour and petroleum....

China’s Cement Output Exceeds 100Mt in November

According to statistics by the relevant departments, in November 2006 China’s cement output continued to increase and reached 114.9781Mt, up 16.6% YoY. Since the beginning of April, China’s monthly cement output has exceeded 100Mt for eight consecutive months. In the first eleven months of 2006, China’s combined cement output was 1.0974263bn tons, up 19.7% YoY. 

Lafarge begins cement production in Bangladesh

Planned cement plant could give US$60m lift to area

The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) and the Ministry of Finance have signed a EUR 25m credit agreement for the expansion of Vietnam’s Hoang Thach cement factory. Hanson expects profits in 2006 to increase by more than 10%
