CRH expects to increase pre-tax profit by over 23% in 2006

Zoning rules dating back more than 25 years may allow Holcim New Zealand to renew its decades-old plan for a cement works near Oamaru.    Land was bought and zoning granted in the mid-1980s, but the cement giant abandoned its plans because of a lack of confidence in the market.    The company is reappraising the Weston site and expects to seek resource consents for a $200 million plant soon. India’s ACC Dec cement shipments up 3.1 per cent YoY

ACC Ltd., India’s second-biggest cement producer, said on Wednesday its December shipments rose 3.1 per cent to 1.65Mt from 1.60Mta a year ago. The Mumbai-based company, one-third owned by Switzerland-based Holcim Ltd, said production in December totalled 1.63Mt, up from 1.57Mt a year ago.
