China’s CAMC to build cement production line in Kyrgyzstan

China CAMC Engineering Co Ltd has concluded a deal to construct a cement production line in Kyrgystan, the official Shanghai Securities News reported. The plant is expected to have an output of 2500t of cement per day and will be completed in 2008, the report said. Builders protest against cement price hike, India

The Builders Association of India has protested against the hike in cement price.  A statement issued by Balagopal Menon, chairman of the Kerala centre of the association, said that cement prices ranged between Rs.145 and Rs.170 per bag between 2003 and 2005, but the prices shot up to Rs.210 and Rs.225 between January and April this year.     The steep increase has caused a huge loss to the builders. Cementos Portland Valderrivas increases stake in Cementos Lemona

Spanish cement producer Cementos Portland Valderrivas has invested EUR111,360 in the acquisition of 3,480 Cementos Lemona shares, thus increasing the stake in its subsidiary to 97.403 per cent.    Back in February this year, the Spanish group acquired 96.06 per cent of Cementos Lemona through a takeover bid. In March, The Spanish group decided to launch a squeeze-out of the subsidiary’s remaining minority shareholders at 32 euros per share in order to delist the stock.

Tanga Cement Company should use coal from Kiwira in Mbeya instead of importing the material from South Africa, Tanga Regional Commissioner, Mohamed Abdulaziz said on Wednesday. Mitsubishi Materials Corp and Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co announced Thursday that they will jointly develop limestone mines in Kitakyushu.     The two companies will invest approximately 13.5 billion yen to build the mining facility, with Mitsubishi Materials putting up 80% of the money.
