Lafarge planning US plant expansion

Lafarge wants to invest  in its cement plant in the southern Illinois town of Joppa. A spokesman for Lafarge North America says the company is seeking permits for the upgrade and expansion of its 1.3Mta integrated facility. The planned construction of two new state-of-the-art kilns would allow the plant to more than double its production to 3Mta. Buzzi Unicem acquires 35 per cent stakes in two Algerian

Buzzi Unicem SpA said it is acquiring a 35 per cent stake in Algeria cement company Hadjar Soud for EUR58m and a similar stake in Sur El Ghoziane for EUR52m. Cement plants to raise capacity by 10% to meet demand

Andhra Cements to expand cement capacity

According to GP Goenka, Chairman, Andhra Cements, the company’s Phase I capacity is to be increased to at least three million tonnes from the current capacity at 1.7Mt. Holcim Ltd said it has made a recommended cash offer, via its UK unit Aggregate Industries, to buy the privately-held UK heavy building materials company Foster Yeoman Ltd. Lafarge plans to invest more in its Moroccan facilities

Lafarge announced its plans to increase and refurbish its cement manufacturing capacity located in Morocco. The group has its manufacturing plants in Tetuan and Tangier plants, in northern Morocco. Lafarge allows that it plans to invest MAD 2bn (USD 228.3m), for this purpose. Lafarge signed an agreement in a meeting, which was chaired by Moroccan Premier Driss Jettou.
