Hetauda Cement resumes production

Hetauda Cement Industry Limited (HCIL) in Nepal has resumed production from Saturday. One of the largest cement factories in Nepal, HCIL had shut down its production since January 23 "to repair production plant." CRH denies Uniland share purchase is ’unlawful and fraudulent’

CRH has categorically rejected the allegations by Spanish cement group Corporacion Uniland SA that its purchase of a 26.3 per cent shareholding in Uniland was ’unlawful and fraudulent’.    Earlier, Uniland said it was starting legal action against CRH in an effort to overturn the share purchase. Cimpor via its Spanish subsidiary Corporacion Noroeste de Hormigones Y Aridos, has acquired the entire stake of Spanish aggregate company Aridos del Cantabrico for a total EUR7.7m (US$9.227m), Cimpor said in a statement. Century Textiles & Industries Ltd, a BK Birla Group company, is expanding its cement business by setting up a stand-alone grinding unit in West Bengal. Arabian Cement Company (ACC) said in late January 2006 it would launch a feasibility study on the possibility to set up a cement plant in Jordan.  The project is to be carried out jointly with an unnamed Jordanian investment company.
