Belgorod Cement produces 1.98Mt of cement in 2005

Belgorod Cement ZAO produced 1.98Mt of cement in 2005, up 16.3 per cent vs. 2004 Output of packed cement rose by 19 per cent to 225,000t. In 2006 production of cement is forecast to rise to 2.3Mt, Eurocement press service reported.

JK Cement to go public

JK Cement today has confirmed it would come out with a public offer to raise about Rs 280-300 crore for funding expansion plans, including augmenting captive power generation capacity and increasing cement production. UltraTech Cement Limited, an Aditya Birla Group company has reported net sales during the quarter at Rs783 crore effectively up by five per cent (after adjusting the freight and trading sales impact) than the third quarter of the previous year (Rs660 crore). Building of cement factory in Sudan

The Najah Investments Group has announced the building of a factory to manufacture cement in Sudan. The production capacity of the new factory will be 1500tpd; Company equity will come to $180m. Local papers quoted Najah Chairman of the Board Mutrik bin Fahid al-Burek who said that the factory will be built in eastern Sudan.

Upgrade of Essroc plant confirmed

Italcementi Group on Friday announced a US$320m expansion and upgrade to its Martinsburg, West Virginia plant. Once the project is completed, the plants production of clinker, will increase from 2350tpd to 6000tpd. Essroc acquired the plant, formerly Capital Cement Plant, in 2002. Last summer, the company completed a US$42m modernisation project of one of its two plants in the Nazareth area and spent US$30m building a 1.7-mile conveyor belt to transport limestone.

Production set to rise in January

Yemen’s Amran cement factory produced 604,085t last year at a total cost of YR10 bn last year, the Director General of the factory Noman Dowaid said, Saba news reported. The US and Mexico agree on ending dumping dispute

A three year transition time has been agreed by the Mexican and US governments to end current restrictions on cement imports into the United States from its southern neighbour, leading to a complete elimination of such duties and any restrictions on volume by the early part of 2009. Chinese investors to built cement plant in Kyrgyzstan

The construction of a cement plant in Tashkumyr (Jalalabad), financed by Chinese investors, will start in February 2006. Local construction workers and specialists will be employed and 500 jobs will be created. As specialists state, there are sufficient raw materials for cement production to continue for 200 years, - said Tashkumyr Mayor Shamsharbek Choibekov. Cade suspends Votorantim, Camargo Corrêa agreement

The Brazilian justice ministry’s antitrust division (Cade) has temporarily suspended an agreement for the buying and selling of white cement between industrial group Votorantim and construction firm Camargo Corrêa, local press reported.    The companies signed an agreement in November 2005 which committed Cimento Rio Branco - one of Votorantim’s holdings - to exclusively purchase agreed volumes of white cement from Camargo Corrêa at predetermined prices.
