Argentine cement demand remained largely stable in August 2018 as it reached 1.115Mt when compared with 1.122Mt in August 2017, according to the latest data from AFCP, the country’s cement association. Domestic shipments stood firm at around 1.113Mt in August 2018 while imports dropped from 9194t in August 2017 to 2228t in August 2018. Pakistan cement's industry saw a fall in total dispatches in August 2018, dropping 8.3 per cent YoY to 3.452Mt from 3.76Mt in August 2017. This runs counter to the strong month of July when a growth of 5.1 per cent was recorded. New cement terminal enters operation in southwest India

India’s Cochin Port Trust launched the port’s fourth cement terminal at Ernakulam Wharf, Kerala, on Monday. The terminal is expected to handle 0.3Mta of cement and has been set up on 1.14ha of land. The terminal entered operation by receiving the Penna Suraksha, the largest self-discharge vessel in Asia, with 25,000t of cement transported from Krishnapatnam. Dominican domestic deliveries up 5%

Local cement sales in the Dominican Republic increased 5.1 per cent in the first six months of 2018 to 2,196,282t from 2,089,935t in 6M17, according to the country’s cement association, Adocem. Peru’s cement plants supplied 790,000t of cement to the domestic market in July 2018, up 1.8 per cent YoY and four per cent MoM, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Cement production in Ukraine has fallen by 4.7 per cent to 963,000t in July YoY, according to the latest data from the Ukrainian State Statistics Service. When compared with June, output decreased 6.1 per cent. In the first seven months of 2018, cement production declined by 3.7 per cent to 4.973Mt YoY. In 2017 cement output increased 2.3 per cent to 9.307Mt YoY.
