The Argentine cement market contracted by 10.6 per cent YoY in September 2018 to 1.012Mt from 1.132Mt in September 2017, according to provisional data by AFCP, the country’s cement association. The Kerala State Cement Dealers’ Welfare Association (KSCDWA) is expected to request that the government forms a regulatory committee with cement companies to moderate prices in the state. Senegal sees 5% rise in output in 7M18

Senegal’s cement production increased by 188,500t, or 47.3 per cent to 587,300t in July 2018 when compared with July 2017 when 398,800t was produced, according to data compiled by the country’s cement plants. MoM output increased by 5.8 per cent from 555,000t in June 2018. In the first seven months of 2018, output rose 4.8 per cent to 4,133,400t, up from 3,944,900t reported in 7M17. National dispatches were up 2.7 per cent YoY to 1.061Mt in August 2018, according to DANE, the country’s statistics office. In August 2017, domestic deliveries reached 1.033Mt. Anhui Conch to set up distribution centre in Indonesia

Anhui Conch Cement is seeking project finance for a US$105m cement transport centre in Palembang, Indonesia. The company plans to raise 80 per cent of the total investment via debt from international and Chinese banks.  The plans include a transportation and storage centre, with a berth for vessels of a 3000dwt capacity, which will import and export 400,000tpa of cement. The project is expected to be completed within 18 months.

Pakistan recorded a six per cent YoY growth in cement demand for September 2018, based on preliminary sales data. This follows two consecutive months of a decline in dispatches due to prolonged holidays and the rainy season, with local dispatches still down two per cent YoY to 8.89Mt in the 1QFY19. Bangladesh exports fall 11% YoY in July-Aug 2018

Bangladesh's cement industry recorded an export revenue of US$1.85m during July-Aug 2018 compared to US$2.07m of the corresponding year-ago period, according to the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau. This equates to a fall of 10.6 per cent YoY in exports. The export figure also includes a minor amount of salt, stone and related products. Currently, the country is reportedly exporting cement to India, Myanmar, Nepal, Maldives and Sri Lanka.

Vietnamese exports expected to rise 43% in September

The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction (MoC) has estimated that the country’s cement exports will rise 43 per cent YoY to 2.2Mt in September. The country’s exports from Jan-Sept 2018 are estimated to have reached 23.28Mt, already surpassing the full-year target set by the MoC of 18-19Mt.
