Pakistan's large-scale manufacturing sector increased by 5.6 per cent during FY16-17 compared with the previous year, with government officials attributing this growth to progress achieved in a number of industries, including the cement sector. The Myanmar Ministry of Electricity and Energy has revealed that Mawlamyine Cement (MCL), a joint venture between Siam Cement Group and Pacific Link Cement, has not sought permission to run the power plant. Peru’s cement dispatches edged up 0.6 per cent YoY to 0.777Mt in July 2017, according to the country’s cement association, Asocem. Domestic supply was supplemented by 100t of imported cement and 44,400t of imported clinker. Output from the country’s cement plants fell 1.2 per cent YoY to 0.827Mt in July.
