Pakistan's cement dispatches in August 2016 stood at 3.585Mt, 16.75 per cent higher than dispatches of 3.071Mt recorded during the same month of previous fiscal year, according to the data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA). Cement consumption in the Democratic Republic of Congo is currently around 40kg per capita, according to Jean Bamanisa Saidi, president of the RDC Concrete Expo 2016, which is currently being held in the country’s capital Kinshasa. He added that new companies in Kongo Central will increase cement production in 2017, enabling the supply of cement equivalent to 100kg per capita as production is expected to be stepped up from 0.4Mt to 2.5Mt.

Argentina reports upturn in cement demand in August

Cement dispatches in Argentina increased by 6.7 per cent YoY in August, according to preliminary figures published by the Argentine cement association, AFCP. The domestic market required the supply of 1,042,862t, up from 977,469t in August 2015. Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico in June 2016 were about 9.2Mt, up by 2.7 per cent from sales in June 2015, reports the US Geological Survey. Pakistan’s cement industry produced 35.44Mt of cement during July 2015-June 2016 compared to 32.18Mt of cement in corresponding period in the previous rolling year. For the first two months of the current fiscal year (July-August 2016) Pakistan's total cement dispatches increased 14 per cent to 4.9Mt when compared to the 4.3Mt recorded in the same period last year. Banco Santander: positive outlook for Mexican cement companies

Banco Santander analysts have upgraded their forecast on share prices of two key Mexican cement producers. The bank expects the company’s share price to rise 8.5 per cent in the next 12 months to MXN17.10/share. For Elementia, the share price would advance by 24.5 per cent in 2017 to MXN28/share.
