Hope Construction Materials (HCM) is supplying 4500m3 of concrete to specialist civil engineering contractor I&H Brown to build 11 wind turbine bases at Crook Hill Wind Farm on the Lancashire Pennine Moors, UK.   The project, which launched in October 2014 and should be complete by the end of July 2015, will secure renewable energy for 25,000 homes near Rochdale in East Lancashire with up to 36MW of electricity in total being generated from the wind farm. Egypt: Italcementi’s energy diversification focus

Italcementi is currently focussing on energy source diversification at its Egyptian facilities, CEO Carlo Pesenti told Daily News Egypt. Mr Pesenti said the company will be relying on using coal, alternative fuels and renewable energy. China Tianrui Group Cement Co posted a net profit of CNY565m (US$91m) in the full year ended 31 December 2014, climbing 1.07 per cent from a year earlier. Basic earnings per share were CNY0.24. Income inched up by 3.34 per cent to CNY8.95bn.

Production in construction up by 1.9% in euro area

In January 2015 seasonally-adjusted production in the construction sector grew by 1.9 per cent in the euro area and by one per cent in the EUR28 compared with December 2014, according to first estimates from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union. In December 2014, production in construction grew by 0.2 per cent in both zones. Southern Province Cement starts trial operations of new line

Southern Province Cement (SPC) on Monday launched trial operations of a third production line at its plant in Tuhama, Saudi Arabia, the company said in a bourse filing. Without disclosing any financial details, SPC said the new production line will have a daily capacity of 5000t. The trial period will last about four months.

Anhui Conch full-year profit rises 17%

Anhui Conch Cement Co's net profit rose 17 per cent in 2014 but warned that the cement sector in its home market of China was under pressure as the economy slowed. The company reported net profit of CNY11bn (US$1.77bn) in 2014, up from CNY9.4bn in 2013, it said in a filing on the Shanghai stock exchange. Vietnam Jan-Feb sales reach 9Mt

Vietnam sold 9.01Mt of cement and clinker in the first two months of this year, meeting 12.5 per cent of the whole-year target, according to figures from the country's Ministry of Construction (MoC). Of the volume, 6.76Mt of cement was sold in the domestic market and about 2.25Mt of cement and clinker was exported. A 42.5kg bag of cement in Honduras has seen its price rise by HNL10.35 (US$0.48) in the past 12 months as the ex-works price was dollarised. In February 2014, the Ministry of Economic Development (SDE) and cement companies agreed to set the price at US$7.60/bag.
